Fenland Heroes (and Villains)!

Everyone who lives in and visits the Fenlands leaves their footprint on the natural landscape around them. However, some local people – and visitors – have had a huge impact on our local area, sometimes changing it forever.

NLOW has teamed up with the fantastic talents of Matthew and Gill from HistoryNeedsYou to bring just a handful of historical figures back to life and to demonstrate their impact on the Fenland landscape. You may have seen Matthew and Gill performing at various events over the summer, including our very popular Open For Nature Days.

 

Now these characters feature in our very own social media campaign – Fenland Heroes or Villains? You choose! #FenlandHeroesAndVillains

 

We believe that looking back into history will help us to inspire the Fenland Heroes of the future. The campaign concludes by asking how local people could get involved in protecting and enhancing the Fenland landscape by volunteering time or attending an event.
