Winter work party: Hedge planting
Get hands-on, planting a mixed native hedgerow for wildlife!
Friday 6th December, at Mingay Farm, Wilburton
Winter is the busiest time of year for practical conservation work, and the best time for planting a hedge! Join us for some fresh air and a good workout as we plant 900m of native hedgerow along the banks of the Old West. Providing cover, food sources and breeding habitat for a vast array of birds, mammals and invertebrates, native hedgerow managed for wildlife is one of our most valuable natural assets. What’s more, hedges are fantastic at reducing soil erosion and slowing run-off into waterways.
This event is suitable for adults. A basic level of fitness and mobility is required, as we will be doing manual work along an open ditch edge. You will need sturdy footwear and to dress for the weather on the day. Bring snacks, some lunch, and plenty to drink (something hot to keep you warm is recommended!)
Click on the email link below, or write to tate.oulton@cambsacre.org.uk, to let us know that you would like to come along.
We hope to see you there!
