Boudicca
Boudicca was the queen of East Anglia during the early part of the Roman occupation. Her territory covered an area between the Old West and the sea. She lead her people in a war of resistance against brutal Roman occupation. After much initial success, she was defeated and killed c. 60-61 CE.
Gaius Suetonius Paulinus was a Roman general and governor of Roman Britain in the time of Boudicca. After massacring the druids in Anglesey, he marched his legions to the centre of Roman Britain, and defeated Boudicca.
Boudicca is a Fenland hero because: she used the natural landscape to sustain and protect her people. Gaius Suetonius Paulinus is a Fenland villain because: not only did the Romans enslave the Britons and exploit the natural resources, they also introduced many species of flora and fauna, upsetting the balance of nature.
