Visit to The Great Fen

Read about our recent visit to The Great Fen, located between Huntingdon and Peterborough, to discover more about the Water Works project. The project aims to develop a more sustainable future for fenland resources by trialling ‘wet farming’ which includes the growing of commercially interesting crops to maintain peat.

Be batty about bats

We were lucky to be able to arrange a late in the season bat walk with Rachel Bates from the Cambridgeshire Bat Group. Rachel brought along a number of bat detectors which we were able to use, and after a slow start the bats eventually emerged.

New Life on the Old West aquatic vegetation and coleoptera survey

During the spring we engaged experienced consultant aquatic ecologists to undertake an ecological survey of drainage ditches and ponds within the New Life on the Old West project area.

Walking in the Fens

We are lucky in the Old West area of the Fens to have the extensive picturesque countryside on our doorstep. Whether you are walking along the Great Ouse in Little Thetford, woodland in Rampton or agricultural fields near Over there is plenty to discover.
