Well-kept, but wild: Nature & your graveyard
Join us for a workshop on managing graveyards for nature
21st May, 10.00am to 15.00pm at Haddenham Closed Cemetery
Graveyards and burial grounds can be havens for a remarkable array of plant and animal life, often providing a refuge for species otherwise pushed out of surrounding areas. As awareness of the importance of these spaces to nature increases, many custodians of graveyards are seeking to adopt management practices that support and enhance ecological value.
This event provides a chance to learn from our invited specialists, and to chat and share ideas with other custodians in the local area.
Hear from:
- Nigel Cooper – Ely Diocesan’s environmental officer on trees, rules & regs and net-zero churchyards
- Diana Cook – from the Wildlife Trust’s Churchyard Conservation Scheme
- David Chandler – a wildlife guide and nature writer on wildlife ID and eco-church information
- Jeni Cairns – an award winning garden designer on planting for wildlife
- Sarah Martin – for the Little Thetford church pond story
Bring your own picnic lunch and dress for the weather on the day!
Location:
Haddenham Closed Cemetery, Church Lane, Haddenham, CB6 3TB
