Our activity programme from 2020 to 2025

We created an exciting series of events as part of the project. Here’s a look back at the range of events that took place for the New Life on the Old West project.

Summer migrant bird identification workshop

Join us for an early morning workshop to improve your skills identifying summer migrant birds from sightings, songs and calls. Led by local writer and wildlife guide David Chandler. Concentrating upon migrant birds - such as the warbler family - we will learn to identify species both visually and by song and calls.

Dragonfly & damselfly walk for Beginners

Practise your dragonfly and damselfly ID skills on this free guided walk with local expert David Chandler.

Guided walk at Holme Fen

Join us for this free guided walk at Holme Fen led by a Natural England reserve manager.

Cuckoo walk at Wicken Fen – with Nick Davies

Join cuckoo expert Nick Davies for a walk around Sedge Fen to discover cuckoos and their reed warbler hosts, and chat about their trickery.

Join local wildlife expert David Chandler to learn to identify some of Cambridgeshire's wonderful dragonflies and damselflies. This online event will be followed by three outdoor identification workshop walks, led by David through the summer months, allowing you to put what you have learned into practice.
