We created an exciting series of events as part of the project. Here’s a look back at the range of events that took place for the New Life on the Old West project.

Take part in an archaeological dig

The Fen Edge Archaeology Group (FEAG) has been invited to dig test pits at the Old Recreation Ground, Broad Lane prior to the excavation of new wildlife ponds. If you are interested in taking part over the weekend please email vicki.harley@care4free.net.

Operation Turtle Dove: Farm Visit

In partnership with the RSPB and Operation Turtle Dove, we have organised an event to raise awareness of turtle doves, sadly the UK’s fastest declining bird species, and their habitat requirements. Cambridgeshire remains an extremely important area for turtle doves, and there is a lot we can do in the county to help ensure their ongoing survival. Come along to find out more! LIMITED SPACES.

Work Party: Woodland Management

Discover otter and water vole field signs and the species they are often confused with! Expert-led session.

Work party: hedge planting

Volunteer to plant a new hedge in Little Thetford (10:00-12:00) to provide bird nesting habitat, a nectar and fruit source, and a habitat for hedgehogs. Date TBC for late Feb/ early March.
